I was told that automotive mechanics earn over $100k per year, if they are good? I am amazed to learn that with the right training in less than a year, my son if he gets in with advanced manufacturer training of another 6 months that the manufactures pay for, he could be pulling down great bucks, if he is a good technician can earn over $100k per year?

At age 20…. can this be? I was told yes, this is correct and have spoken to a graduate of advanced training and at 21 he makes over $125k per year, has a house, a car and went from nothing to well on the way to attaining the American dream. Thus. I am quickly changing my opinion of not pushing regular college or community college and agreeing to send him to a automotive technical school like Lincoln Tech or Wyotech and if he stays employed many of the dealerships pay back the original cost of training if you stay with the dealership. Now that that great deal and a smart way to make him debt free.

Here is my math. One year at a technical school around $30k tuition ect, start out at $50 to 100K and your employer pays back your school loans. Or 4 years at a state college, business degree $100K cost and start out at $45-$50 K with no hope that your employer is going to pay your loans back. Now they have my attention and blessing.

We have learned that the big carrot after you graduate the automotive training schools is apply and be accepted into advanced automotive training for one of the big car dealerships, like BMW, Ford ect. Each schools seems to have it’s own selection that they represent.

They all say that once you graduate you can be accepted into another schools advance program for advance training, but when you pin them down they say 90% come from their school. So knowing what advance training you want to go for will effect where you should go? Need to check this out more. The web site link gives you all the schools and the affiliations, so it will be easy to figure out some options.

I have been very pleased with the info I have read from this site I found called Mechanic Schools Directory and they seem to be adding a lot of schools, each time I return to the website. It is easy to find out about various mechanic training schools in one place that we would have never considered. So this site is a great resource for our family and I keep returning to it time and time again. it is one place where you contact all the schools and not have to go from one web site to another.

Here are some of what was is offered on the site:

1:The site offers career resources including articles and related links; a directory of schools providing quick and easy information about their programs, organized by location; and links to related career categories.

2: It tells you about going through auto mechanic training, the training on how to diagnose, service, and repair both domestic and foreign automobiles. In auto mechanic courses, it explains basic and advanced auto mechanics, including use of the latest tools. Cars are becoming increasingly computerized, and so are the mechanic’s diagnostic tools.

3: It explained the knowledge of the tools essential to working on the modern cars. In addition, mechanics need to be very good in working with their hands.

It explained that in an auto mechanic school you will learn about:

* automobile engines * engine analyzers * hand-held scanners * computerized diagnostic equipment
* integrated electronic systems * complex automotive computers * fuel injection systems* exhaust systems
* brakes * and much more …

4: Some auto mechanic schools offer manufacturer specific training for specific auto manufacturers, such as Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, and Volvo. Some schools offer manufacturer specialized training, such as the Mercedes Benz Elite, Porsche PTAP and the Volkswagen VATRPprograms. Others offer NASCAR or NHRA or other speciality programs.

5: Trained automobile service technicians typically can get the most out of a car’s engine and other components since they are trained so well to manufacturer standards.

6: I learned that the demand for auto mechanic school graduates remains high, as the complexity of engine design grows. It was good to read that the US department of Labor has forecast a very good job outlook for trained mechanics.
